Yuruparí Grupo Folklórico, colombian folklor dancers

History

Yuruparí Grupo Folklórico is the result of the joint effort and experience of two Colombian dancers, who met in London, Jorge Hurtado and Xihomara Zentner. Since 1988 they took the mission to preserve and pass to others the cultural tradition of Colombia and its folklore in the UK.

The name, Yuruparí, is taken from an Amazon ritual and festivity which brings tribes together for a celebration. In the same way, Yuruparí Grupo Folklórico wishes to unite and share the culture of Latin American in the UK.

We believe that the artist expression of Yuruparí Group synthesises the feeling, richness and diversity of the people of Colombia and through music and dance we portray the most beautiful and true nature of our country.
